Dazu wird der Steuerbereich des Motorkanals in zwei Teile aufgeteilt: Unterhalb der Mittenstellung kann das Gasservo manuell gesteuert wird. Damit es über den gesamten Bereich gesteuert werden kann, wird dabei der Steuerweg intern verdoppelt. Sobald der Gaskanal in den oberen Bereich geschaltet wird, aktiviert sich der Drehzahlregler und die vorgegebene Drehzahl wird (soweit erforderlich) langsam angefahren und gehalten. Ähnlich wie beim Drehzahlregler für Elektromodelle programmiert man hier im Fernsteuersender eine Flugphase, in der die Gaskurve eine Waagrechte ist, so dass unabhängig von der Stellung des Steuerknüppels immer derselbe Wert an MICROBEAST PLUS gesendet wird. Die Höhe dieses Werts bestimmt die Drehzahl, die gehalten werden soll. Man verwendet also mindestens zwei Flugphasen im Fernsteuersender: Eine in der die Gaskurve nur maximal bis zur Mitte geht und in der der Motor per Hand angesteuert werden kann (z.B. zum Starten und Warmlaufen/Hochlaufen des Motors) und eine Flugphase, in der das Gas einen festen Wert hat und der Drehzahlregler aktiviert ist.<br />

Ausserdem reagieren manche Modellmotoren im unteren Gasbereich sehr empfindlich und ein zu abruptes Einkuppeln kann dazu führen, dass der Motor beim Starten ausgeht. In diesem Fall ist eine manuelle Gassteuerung ebenfalls vorteilhaft und der Pilot kann den Motor erst einmal von Hand hochlaufen lassen, bevor die Kontrolle an den Drehzahlregler übergeben wird. Erst wenn der Drehzahlregler zugeschaltet wird, übernimmt dieser die Kontrolle über das Servo, fährt den Rotor auf die gewünschte Drehzahl hoch (falls diese noch nicht erreicht ist) und sorgt dafür, dass die Rotordrehzahl während des Flugs entsprechend gehalten wird. <br />

In diesem Bereich kann das Gasservo immer manuell gesteuert werden, egal welchen Wert der Kanal für die Drehzahlregelung hat. So kann z.B. der Motor angelassen werden, selbst wenn die Drehzahlregelung schon über den Schalter aktiviert ist, oder der Motor unabhängig vom Drehzahlregler abgestellt werden. Erst wenn der Gaskanal einen Wert höher als 25% hat, ist die Position des Kanals für die Drehzahlregelung massgeblich und der Drehzahlregler wird entsprechend aktiviert und bringt den Rotor ggf. auf Touren. Zu beachten ist hier weiter, dass die Drehzahlregelung in den Modus Autorotation geschaltet wird, wenn die Drehzahlregelung einmal aktiv war und das Gas auf eine Position tiefer als 25% gebracht wird. D.h. wenn das Gas wieder erhöht wird, bringt der Drehzahlregler den Rotor sofort wieder auf Touren, viel schneller als beim anfänglichen Sanftanlauf. Wenn also eine Zwischenlandung gemacht wird und der Rotor vollständig steht, so muss der Drehzahlregler erst komplett deaktiviert werden, damit der Regler beim erneuten Einschalten die Drehzahl wieder sanft hochfährt. Andernfalls würde der Schnellhochlauf starten und der Helikopter könnte durch das abrupte Gasgeben umkippen.<br />
