=MICROBEAST und MICROBEAST PLUS=
MICROBEAST war das erste Flybarless System für Helis der BEASTX GmbH. Die Besonderheit liegt bei dem System, dass es sich ganz einfach und völlig ohne zusätzliche Hilfsmittel programmieren lässt. Auf ein graphisches Display wurde dabei bewußt verzichtet. Dabei ist das System so hervorragend abgestimmt, dass es quasi "out of the box" mit fast jedem Heli ein gutes Flugergebnis liefert. Lässtiges parametrisieren entfällt und es gibt nur eine überschaubare Anzahl an Parametern für das Feintuning.<br />

MICROBEAST PLUS hat das MICROBEAST nach vielen erfolgreichen Jahren abgelöst. Die Hardware wurde dem Stand der Zeit angepasst mit leistungsfähigerem Microcontroller und besseren Sensoren. Durch diese Verbesserung konnten viele neue zusätzliche Features implementiert werden (z.B. interne Drehzahlregelung, Rettungsfunktion, Bankumschaltung, ...) die teils optional zugekauft werden können. So bleibt der Preis für die Hardware niedrig und jeder Pilot zahlt nur für die Features, die er benötigt.<br />

Heutige Servos und besonders die sogenannte "High Voltage" Servos haben eine sehr hohe Stromaufnahme. Während ein (altbewährtes) Futaba BLS 451 Brushlessservo sehr sparsam ist, bringt es ein Savöx 1258/Align DS610 auf Spitzenströme von bis zu 15A für den Bruchteil einer Sekunde. Als Extrembeispiel sei das Savöx SB-2271SG HV genannt. Hier konnten wir ein Servo(!) mit bis zu 27A am Oszilloskop vermessen.<br />
Zu beachten ist, dass dies nicht nur eine entsprechend starke Stromquelle benötigt, sondern auch die Anschlussleitungen und -stecker entsprechend großzügig dimensioniert werden müssen. Wenn der Empfängerakku oder das BEC nur über eine einzige, dünne Servoleitung an den Empfänger oder das MICROBEAST / MICROBEAST PLUS angeschlossen ist, dann könnte das zu wenig sein und einen "Flaschenhals" für den Stromfluss darstellen. Die Spannung breicht dann auf Seite des Verbrauchers (Servo, Empfänger, Flybarlesssystem) stark ein. Darüberhinaus muss der Strom einen weiten Weg zurücklegen, wenn er z.B. am Empfänger in das System einfließt und über den Empfänger, Kabel, Stecker und das MICROBEAST / MICROBEAST PLUS zu den Hauptverbrauchern (den Servos) gelangt. Dies sorgt für einen weiteren Anstieg des Leitungswiderstands und in Folge für noch stärkeren Spannungsverlust. Es bringt nichts, wenn die Stromquelle/das BEC einen Dauerstrom von 20-25A liefern kann, wenn dieser hohe Strom nicht ungehindert durch das System fließen kann.<br />

Hier setzt das MICROBEAST PLUS HD an und bietet eine angemessene Anschlussmöglichkeit für dicke Zuleitungen genau da an, wo die Hauptverbraucher sitzen. So werden die Übergangswiderstände und damit verbunden der Spannungsverlust so gering wie möglich gehalten. Grundsätzlich empfehlen wir daher für größere Helis mit Servos der Standardgröße das MICROBEAST PLUS HD einzusetzen. So ergibt sich die Problematik, ausreichend Anschlussmöglichkeiten für kleine Servostecker zu finden, erst gar nicht.<br />
Dennoch muss gesagt werden, dass auch die restliche Auslegung der Stromversorgung wichtig ist. Wenn z. B. ein Motorsteller mit BEC zur Stromversorgung verwendet wird, bei dem die Versorgung nur über ein Servokabel erfolgt, dann bringt der Einsatz des MICROBEAST PLUS HD keinerlei Vorteil, weil der "Flaschenhals" schon direkt bei der Stromquelle liegt. Bietet andererseits das BEC mehrere Anschlussleitungen, dann ist es sehr zu empfehlen diese zusammen an den Hochstromstecker von MICROBEAST PLUS HD anzustecken. So ist eine optimale, verlustarme und zugleich platzsparende Verbindung gewährleistet. Wenn ein BEC mit dicken Anschlussleitungen verwendet wird oder ein Empfängerakku zum Einsatz kommt, dann ist MICROBEAST PLUS HD sowieso die erste Wahl. Dies wird auch immer der Fall sein bei Modellen mit Verbrennungsmotoren, die mit einem Empfängerakku versorgt werden. Zusätzlich hat man mit MICROBEAST PLUS HD noch den Vorteil, dass der Hochstromeingang schaltbar ist. So entfällt die zusätzliche Anschaffung eines entsprechend leistungsfähigen Ein-/Ausschalters.<br />

Das MICROBEAST PLUS wird als OEM an ALIGN geliefert und kann in ALIGN T-Rex Baukästen enthalten sein. Solche Geräte können die Firmware Version 4.x.x oder 5.x.x '''BASIC''' besitzen. Du kannst es wie jedes andere MICROBEAST PLUS upgraden/updaten/registrieren und programmieren. Der einzige Unterschied zu einem direkt von BEASTX gekauften Gerät ist der ALIGN Schriftzug auf dem Gehäuse und die zusätzliche ALIGN Seriennummer.

We did do several tests with gas powered helis and we do not see any restriction on this. Gas motors produce very low frequent vibrations which normally can be filtered by the gyro sensors very well. So you should be able to fly with MICROBEAST PLUS and use AttitudeControl without issues on gasser helis. Also the governor function can be used with gas motors. Only restriction is that a speed sensor with digital sensor output (PWM) must be used for proper function. Analog sensors like the Futaba GV1 magnet sensor or StatorGator (which are often installed on gasser helis) can't be used.<br />

Today's servos and especially so-called high voltage servos typically have a very high power consumption. When using Futaba BLS 451 servos for example these are very modest. Savöx 1258/Align DS610 are much more demanding - one alone taking up to 15Amps peak for the instance of a second. And for very extreme example take high voltage Savöx servos SB-2271SG HV. They demand up to 27Amps (1 Servo!) peak which you can see when measuring the power consumption with an oscilloscope. So besides using a good stable and high rated power supply you have to ensure proper supply of the servos with this power. But when only connecting one servo plug with power leads into the receiver this may be insufficient and cause a "bottle neck" in power flow. Also when the current must take a long way through the receiver, the wiring and the MICROBEAST, this will produce high resistance due to the connections in between and additional loss of voltage. There is no benefit if the power supply/BEC itself can deliver 20-25A when this amount of current is not able to flow to the consumers.<br />

Now the idea behind MICROBEAST PLUS HD is to provide a power connection that allows for using thick power cables and directly connect these to the unit, close to the servos. So the voltage loss due to wiring and plug connection is reduced to a minimum. In general for helis with standard size servo you should always use MICROBEAST PLUS HD, because this will eliminate the "servo plug problem" as one important factor that may be critical in regards to the power supply. But also keep an eye on the design of your power supply in general. I.e. when using an ESC with only one BEC line there will no benefit of using the HD version as you already have a "bottle neck" at the power output. The small wire will not be able to transfer more than 5 Amps continuous current. Connecting this little wire to MICROBEAST's HD input will not help very much here. If on the other hand you have at least two or even three BEC lines then this can be different as you may solder the power wires from the BEC together to the MICROBEAST PLUS HD high power plug. Then you have a much lower contact resistance compared to only connect the wires using the standard servo plugs, which is a real benefit for providing a stable power supply. Ideally you have a BEC or receiver battery that already comes with thick power wires. Here it is ideal to use MICROBEAST PLUS HD. Also when using a separate receiver battery i. e. on nitro or gas helis using MICROBEAST PLUS HD is the ideal way to connect the battery to your RC system. In addition to the adequate connection plug here you have an integrated switch system for switching the heli on and off, so there is no need to buy an extra switch.<br />
