The Telemetry Hub feature turns your BEASTX System into a hub for processing incoming and outgoing telemetry data, so it can pass ESC and sensor data through to your radio's telemetry display. To use telemetry you need to set up your radio system accordingly. Here we describe the basic steps for enabling the telemetry display on different radio systems. For further information on setting up alarms and other options, please refer to the instruction manual of your radio system.

Telemetry hub is only available for MICROBEAST PLUS and MICROBEAST ULTRA. With Nanobeast there is no option to connect a telemetry sensor.

Anyhow, you can connect a receiver with telemetry back link to your Nanobeast (i.e. JETI EXBUS, ELRS receiver or SPEKTRUM SRXL2 receiver). This allows to use the telemetry for setting up your device remotely from the radio by using the JETIBOX emulation, BEASTX Lua script on OpenTX radios or Spektrum SMART Telemetry screen on your Spektrum radio. For further information please have a look at the specific radio setup procedure in the RX section.



JETI EXBUS

To enable the telemetry display on your JETI transmitter, open the extended/advanced menu settings and go to the "Timer/Sensor" menu. Here you can select the various telemetry sensors provided by your BEASTX System. You can then add these sensors to one of the telemetry screens on the transmitter's home screen.

Once the sensor connection between the receiver and your BEASTX System is established, the corresponding sensor values must be visible in this telemetry/sensor menu on the transmitter. If no values are shown there, this usually indicates a wiring problem between the receiver and your BEASTX System - please check the connection in this case.

SPEKTRUM SRXL2

Make sure your receiver is bound as a telemetry receiver. This usually happens automatically when binding the receiver - the message shown on the radio during the bind procedure is "DSMX 11ms - Telemetry".

To enable the telemetry display on your SPEKTRUM radio, open the "Function List" and choose the telemetry options screen. Here enable the "Volts", "ESC", "RPM" and "Flight pack" displays. You don't have to enable all screens, but these are basically the ones used by your BEASTX System. If you enter one of the screens, you can enable specific alarms for each metric, e.g. a low voltage alarm from the "Volts" setting, or a maximum allowed capacity draw from the "Flight pack" screen. Please refer to the manual of your SPEKTRUM radio for more information.



From the main screen you can then scroll through the different telemetry screens:




GRAUPNER HOTT

Make sure your receiver is set up to send telemetry data on the external telemetry data output. This is usually done from the TELEMETRY MENU of your HOTT radio.

The telemetry data line is connected to the [SYS] port of your BEASTX System. For this type of application, you must set RECEIVER MENU point L to Status-LED blue (="HOTT").
See section "Telemetry" in RECEIVER MENU for additional information.

To get telemetry information on your radio's display, there is not much to do. Just make sure to switch on the radio and receiver simultaneously. If you open the TELEMETRY tab on the radio, you should see the "SEARCH" label, indicating that telemetry data is being received by the radio. After approx. 15 seconds, the radio should display telemetry data. Your BEASTX System simulates a HOTT EAM (Electric Air Module) and VARIO, so you will see the associated screens on the radio.



FRSky F.Port (MICROBEAST ULTRA only)

Make sure your receiver is set up to send data in "F.Port" data format. This is usually done from the MODEL MENU of your FRSky radio.

If telemetry data is received, you should see all available data when starting the SCAN PROCESS in the TELEMETRY MENU of your FRSky radio.



Futaba SBUS2 (MICROBEAST ULTRA only)

Make sure your receiver is set up to send SBUS2 telemetry data. This is usually done from the LINKAGE MENU of your Futaba radio. Sometimes it is necessary to perform a rebind in order to activate the telemetry output!

In the SENSOR menu, activate the following devices:

  • SLOT 8: rpm sensor (=headspeed)
  • SLOTs 9-10-11: CUR-1678 (=voltage, current, consumption)
  • SLOT 12: TEMP-1713 (=ESC temperature)
  • SLOT 13: TEMP-1713 (=PWM)


Please note this assignment is fixed. If you use additional sensors on the same slots, these must be reassigned to other slots.

You can add alarms to each item in the TELEMETRY menu. Please refer to the instruction manual of your radio for further reference.
