Control Style

Die Steuerbewegungen vom Roll-, Nick- und Hecksteuerknüppel werden im BEASTX System als Drehrate umgesetzt. Wenn die Steuerknüppel in Mittenposition sind, heißt das folglich "den Heli nicht drehen". Andererseits ist nicht von vornherein festgelegt, wie schnell sich der Heli bei einem bestimmten Steuerausschlag drehen soll. Hier kommt der Parameter Steuerverhalten ins Spiel, der die Möglichkeit bietet, zwischen verschiedenen Drehraten und Steuerempfindlichkeiten zu wählen. Dies umfasst zum einen die maximale Drehrate des Helikopters und zum anderen, wie sensibel das System auf Bewegungen von Roll-, Nick- und Hecksteuerknüppel im Bereich der Knüppelmittenstellung reagiert.

Für die meisten Piloten sollte die Einstellung Sport ausreichend sein. Falls Du ein noch unerfahrener Pilot bist, wähle für die ersten Flüge am besten die Einstellung Zahm. Hier ist die maximale Drehrate auf Taumelscheibe und Heck sehr stark eingeschränkt, und die Reaktion im Bereich der Steuerknüppelmitte ist sehr gering.

Daneben ist es auch möglich, über die StudioX Flow App das Verhalten auf die Steuerknüppelbefehle beliebig anzupassen. Wenn die Bankumschaltung verwendet wird (nur bei PROEDITION Firmware), können sogar 3 verschiedene Verhalten vorgegeben werden, zwischen denen dann im Flug beliebig umgeschaltet werden kann.

Adjustment at the device

The control style is set at PARAMETER MENU point B (to enter this menu point, briefly push and hold the button from operation mode so Menu LED A flashes, then briefly push the button again so Menu LED B flashes). The choice is made by moving the rudder stick in one direction until the LED indicates the desired color and state. To find your individual preference, step through the options one by one.

If you are not satisfied with the presets, you may adjust the control behavior using your remote control. To do so, set the control behavior to "transmitter" (Status-LED "blue"). The maximum rotation rates for aileron, elevator and rudder can then be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the servo travel for the corresponding function in your transmitter, or by using the "Dual rate" function. In this mode, 100% stick throw (servo throw) in the transmitter corresponds to a rotation rate of approx. 400°/s on the cyclics and 600°/s on rudder. (So, for example, if you set the rudder output to 50% in the transmitter, the heli will rotate at 300°/s with full rudder stick deflection.)
To adjust the sensitivity around mid-stick position, you can use the "Expo" function of your transmitter. Please refer to the manual of your transmitter.

Notes:

• When you've changed the preset control style using the StudioX Flow app, the Status-LED will be off. You can change back to a preset by tapping the rudder stick as described, but this will remove your custom setting!
  
• When using the Bank Switching feature (PROEDITION firmware only), you can only adjust the settings for flight mode/bank 1 using the LED menu on the device. The settings for banks 2 and 3 must be changed in StudioX Flow. When bank switching is deactivated, you will still see the settings of bank 1 here, as bank 1 is the default bank used when bank switching is disabled!
  

When using a predefined control behavior other than "transmitter", we do not recommend additionally adjusting control curves (Expo/Dual rates) in your transmitter, as this will unpredictably mix the preset curves of the BEASTX System with the curves of the transmitter! However, if you only make small adjustments (e.g. slightly increasing the throw to increase the rotation rate), this should not be a problem.

If the tail gyro is operated in Normal-Rate mode, the rudder stick directly controls the rudder servo instead of commanding a rotation rate to the gyro. In this mode the heli will turn as fast as determined by the rudder servo position and angle of attack of the tail rotor blades. The tail gyro does not monitor the rate of rotation. Therefore it is possible to get very high rotation rates, and it is essential to check how much pitch angle is reached at full rudder stick deflection on the tail rotor. Reduce the servo throw of the rudder servo by decreasing it in the remote control, or by limiting it in the BEASTX System to a reasonable level.

Setup with StudioX Flow

Once StudioX Flow has connected to your BEASTX System, click the Parameter button on the device overview main screen. Then, in the parameter settings, click the "Next" button (->) to switch to the Bank 1 - Control style page. Here you can select a preset. In the advanced view (click the gear symbol below) you will see the currently used maximum rotation rates and expo values for each control function - aileron, elevator and rudder. The rate is measured in degrees per second; a value of 360, for example, means your helicopter will make one full turn/rotation in one second when you move the stick to full deflection. The expo value is specified in percent. 0% expo means the stick input influences the output linearly. Usually this makes the control feel very sensitive and over-reactive. By adding some expo you can soften the input around the stick center position.

When using the Bank Switching feature, you can set different control styles for each bank. Click "Next" until you reach Bank 2 - Control style or Bank 3 - Control style and adjust as necessary, or set the values the same as Bank 1 if you don't want different styles on each bank.

Please note that your custom values for Bank 1 will be changed/overwritten when you select a preset control style in the PARAMETER MENU on the device (see above)!
