Bank Switching
Bank Switching - What's that?
With Bank Switching you can change between 3 different parameter sets in flight, instead of using only one fixed parameter set. This allows you to adapt the system to different flight conditions or different rotor headspeeds, e.g. hovering, cruising, speed flying, landing and so on. You can also use Bank Switching to selectively change specific parameters, e.g. switch between different rescue modes or test the effect of a parameter. Bank Switching is available on all BEASTX Systems (Microbeast Plus, Microbeast Ultra and Nanobeast) as part of the optional PROEDITION firmware. Please note that due to the variety of setup options, Bank Switching can only be enabled and configured with the StudioX Flow app.
Usage instructions
When Bank Switching is activated, all parameters have to be set in the app. This also includes the gains that are usually set with the 3 dials on Microbeast Plus/Ultra, as well as the tail gyro gain. There is one exception: the AttitudeControl gain can still be controlled by a separate switch channel. Only when no additional channel has been assigned in RECEIVER MENU do you have to set the AttitudeGain for each bank in the app, with the selected AttitudeMode being activated depending on the amount of gain.
On Microbeast Plus and Ultra, the dials no longer have any function once Bank Switching is activated - the gyro gain channel is now used to switch between the banks instead. When the gyro channel is in the center position, Bank 2 is active; when the gyro channel is moved in the positive direction, Bank 1 is active; and when it is moved in the negative direction, Bank 3 is active.
| Menu-LED (Bank) | A H (Bank 1) | D K (Bank 2) | G N (Bank 3) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rudder channel | > +35% | -35% to +35% | < -35% |
Please note that the values may vary slightly - there is actually a small range around the center position, so you do not have to set the gyro channel to exactly 0% to activate Bank 2. The signs may also be interchanged, depending on the type of radio system used. Either way, you can see in the app which bank is currently active, and on Microbeast Plus/Ultra you can also read the current bank from the device's LED display. Each time you change the bank, the Menu-LEDs will light up for 4 seconds and indicate, like a small bar, which bank is selected: bar at the top is Bank 1, bar in the middle is Bank 2, bar at the bottom is Bank 3.
| Bank 1 is indicated by LEDs AH | Bank 2 is indicated by LEDs DK | Bank 3 is indicated by LEDs GN |
Following the bank display, you will see the AttitudeControl display for an additional 4 seconds. When LED A flashes, AttitudeControl is off; otherwise one of Menu-LEDs B - N shows the amount of AttitudeControl gain (see the AttitudeControl instructions for more information).
NANOBEAST does not have individual Menu-LEDs. The currently active bank and the AttitudeControl status/gain can be read from the StudioX Flow app instead.
In order to use Bank Switching in flight, you can either assign a 3-position switch on your transmitter to the gyro channel (which is now used for bank switching) and select banks freely, or you can link the gyro channel to your flight mode switch, so that the parameter banks are set automatically for each flight mode.

- When using Bank Switching, always be absolutely sure which banks you're using in flight and which banks you can choose from. If you don't need a bank, either make sure you cannot activate it from the transmitter, or copy all parameter values from another bank into this bank, so you don't accidentally switch into an unwanted condition.
- When Bank Switching is disabled, the parameters of Bank 1 are always used!
- The options you can change in the device's PARAMETER MENU always relate to Bank 1, regardless of whether Bank Switching is used or not!
Setting up Bank Switching with StudioX Flow
Once StudioX Flow has connected to your BEASTX System, click the Parameter button on the overview screen. In the parameter view, click the "Next" (->) button repeatedly until you reach the Bank 1 - Gains screen, or go directly to this screen using the selection box at the top. Here you can activate Bank Switching by clicking the corresponding button above the gain adjustments. Once Bank Switching is activated, the following screens become accessible and can be used to change the parameters for Banks 2 & 3, in addition to the Bank 1 parameters set initially.
Please note that the "Quick Trim" screen has a global effect, meaning the values are used across all banks. Separate trimming for each bank is not provided.
If you have set a separate control channel for the AttitudeControl function in the Control setup menu, the gain adjustment for AttitudeControl in the app will have no effect - you can then only use Bank Switching to change between different rescue modes in flight, and the gain is not adjustable via the app. On the other hand, if you have not assigned a separate channel for AttitudeControl, you can set the AttitudeControl gain for each bank/flight mode and use the banks/flight modes to activate/deactivate the rescue function in flight. Note that AttitudeControl activates once the gain is higher than 12! Check the status display on the device overview main screen, or (on Microbeast Plus/Ultra) the device's LED display, to see whether AttitudeControl is active and what gain is set.
