The (internal) Governor keeps the main rotor speed (headspeed) constant, independent of the current flight situation or load on the motor. Instead of adjusting the throttle/motor output on the transmitter, you only choose the desired headspeed i.e. by setting a fixed throttle line - the BEASTX System measures the actual rotor speed and continuously adjusts the electric motor's power or the throttle servo of a nitro/gas engine to keep the RPM at this target value, even under varying load, e.g. during pitch pumps, fast forward flight or 3D maneuvers. Please note that this requires a speed sensor on the motor side and in case of electric helis, the ESC mustn't use its own governor function!

The Internal Governor function is not available on NANOBEAST. Point N of SETUP MENU does not exist on NANOBEAST, and Governor setup is consequently also not available in the StudioX Flow app for this device.

Adjustment on the device

At first you have to enable the governor function at SETUP MENU point N. If not already done, enter SETUP MENU by pressing and holding the button from operation mode for at least 2 seconds, then release when Menu LED A lights solid. Then repeatedly press the button until Menu LED N lights up. At SETUP MENU point N you can toggle between three different options by tapping the rudder stick. The Status-LED indicates which option is currently active:

Status-LED Governor mode
off no governor - the RPM Governor is not used. All control commands on the throttle channel will be passed to the [THR] output directly.
red electric governor - select this option if your helicopter is powered by an electric motor and an electric speed controller is plugged into output [CH5] of MICROBEAST PLUS/ULTRA. The device reads the speed signal from the speed controller or a phase sensor and controls the rotor speed accordingly. Note that the speed controller itself must not be operated in a (heli-specific) governor mode! The speed controller must process the incoming throttle signal and control the motor as directly and unfiltered as possible.
blue nitro governor - with this option the system can govern the rotor speed of a helicopter with a nitro or gas engine. In this case the system controls the throttle servo connected to output [THR] and controls the carburetor of the engine. The motor speed is read from a magnetic or optical sensor that detects the rotation of the crankshaft, the clutch bell or the main gear.

In order to enable the governor function choose red or blue depending on the type of helicopter/drive system you're using. Then briefly press the button to skip to the GOVERNOR MENU (this will only appear when the governor function is used; when the governor is disabled - Status-LED off - you will exit SETUP MENU directly).

Setup with StudioX Flow

Open the "Governor setup" page in the StudioX Flow app once it is connected to your MICROBEAST PLUS/ULTRA. Under "Governor Basic Setup" you can enable the governor function by choosing either "Electric" or "Nitro/Gas Heli", depending on the type of helicopter/drive system you're using. Choosing "Governor mode off" passes all control commands for the throttle channel directly to output [CH5]. In this case all other settings in the "Governor setup" menu will have no effect.
